- Nabanita started off as an agency account servicing person, but now works in a client organization, as a full-time consultant at the Taj for their database marketing. Pabitra started as an copywriter, but has done plenty of planning, and some amount of analytics. He is a freelance copywriter. Both of us believe labels are idiotic in direct: You think of everything, do what you're best at. This has led us to teach ourselves a fair amount of software too (FoxPro, SPSS, SQL, and, of course, Excel and Access). We worship Claude Hopkins, revere Bob Stone, and idolize Robert Updegraff (Obvious Adams).

I have been comparing Indian ads with USA ads ever since I landed in the US. I have seen that most US ads are 1) either extremely stupid / disgusting or extremely simple.
2) that Indian ads have a nicer tag line (only phone companies here seem to have good tag lines – Cingular (raising the bar – the bar referring to the bars on the phone whill tell you how good a signal you have), Verizon (it’s the network) and others. In India, I could remember classic tag lines that everyone knew. And its not because it was in Hindi – its because they were just better. (I am not an advertisement professional, I am a consumer – I care about the ad, how funny it is, how nice the idea it is) 3) Most ads are of cars, medicines, wireless or insurance. Indian ads were mostly of soap/detergent, cold drinks and cellular companies.
